Three years ago, I took a leap of faith and incorporated Kebaonish Inc., an Indigenous and woman-owned tea and coffee company. What started as a solopreneur journey—just me and a vision—quickly grew. My partner Dr. Ryan ("Rye") Karonhiowanen Barberstock joined me and brought depth to the brand, incorporating Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee teachings into our corporate culture and product offerings.

Along the way, others joined us in the effort to build Kebaonish, and while some paths aligned and others did not, each experience has been a lesson in resilience, growth, and the importance of staying true to our values.

As we step into this next chapter, Rye and I, alongside our dedicated team, are working together to build something stronger, more aligned, and deeply rooted in our vision.

Like any entrepreneur, I’ve had my share of ups and downs. One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is to trust my instincts—about people, business, and the direction of Kebaonish. Not every collaboration is meant to last, and that’s okay. What matters is moving forward with clarity and purpose.

Another key lesson? The power of working with industry experts. I’m incredibly grateful to Paula Watts, whose deep knowledge of CPG has been instrumental in refining our pricing, and to Judith Pineault and Scott Runte, whose mentorship, friendship, and support have meant the world.

A big thank you to the DLG team at Launch Lab, who have also been helping us strengthen our marketing and social media presence. Finally, Chi Miigwech (thank you) to Yvan Guy Larocque, our Métis lawyer from Hall & Laroque LLP, who has been an exceptional friend, advisor, and supporter of Kebaonish.

This milestone isn’t just about looking back—it’s about looking ahead. Kebaonish is growing, evolving, and committed to delivering exceptional tea and coffee while giving back to Indigenous communities and culture.

To everyone who has been part of this journey—our customers, partners, and friends—thank you for believing in us. The best is yet to come!

Here’s to the next chapter of Kebaonish!
