Every time someone orders from Kebaonish Inc., we provide a Turtle Island Seed package. 🌱💌
Our Turtle Island logo was designed by Mohawk Artist, Melissa Brant, and our seed package is an opportunity to connect with Mother Earth by planting our Turtle Island logo into Turtle Island. 🌍🌿
It is also an opportunity to connect with everyone else who is part of our Kebaonish community, knowing that each person has a bit of Kebaonish in their gardens, connecting all of us together in friendship, peace, and harmony. 🤝🌼🌿🕊️
The Story of Turtle Island
The legend of Turtle Island is a foundational story within many Indigenous cultures in North America. According to Iroquois (Haudenosaunee) mythology, long ago, the world was covered with water. The first beings lived in the sky and one day, Sky Woman fell towards the waters below. Various animals tried to help her, but it was the Great Turtle who volunteered to carry her on his back. The animals then placed soil on the Turtle’s back, creating a new land where Sky Woman could live. This land became known as Turtle Island, symbolizing creation, community, and the interconnected relationship between humans and nature. 🐢🌿
By including a Turtle Island Seed package with every order, Kebaonish Inc. honors this rich cultural heritage and invites our customers to participate in the act of creation by planting seeds. This meaningful gesture fosters a deeper connection to the Earth and to the broader Kebaonish community, forging bonds rooted in respect, sustainability, and harmony with nature. 🌎🌱
